The summer season at Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool kicks off this month with the summer hours beginning Saturday, May 27, and the annual Pool Safety Day on Sunday, May 28. There will be a variety of activities occurring throughout the day.
Summer hours will be noon to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, and 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. weekdays. The City of Palm Coast’s Frieda Zamba Swimming Pool is located at 339 Parkview Drive, off Belle Terre Parkway adjacent to Belle Terre Park and Buddy Taylor/Wadsworth school campus.
The first big event for the summer season will be Pool Safety Day, 1 to 4 p.m. May 28. Have fun and learn about water safety at the same time!
Certified pool staff will lead activities that teach safety in and around the pool. There will also be a water slide and DJ. The day’s schedule is as follows:
1 p.m. – Pool Safety Day begins
1:30 p.m. – Flagler Beach Ocean Rescue presentation
2:15 p.m. – Life jackets demonstration and importance of pool rules
2:45 p.m. – Free swim lesson
3:30 p.m. – Lifeguard/Palm Coast Fire Department demonstration
“Water safety is very important here in Florida, where we’re surrounded by water and so many opportunities for swimming, surfing and boating,” said Palm Coast Recreation Supervisor of Aquatics James Hirst. “As we head into summer, the City invites all residents to come out for Pool Safety Day to learn about water safety.”
The pool will have reduced-price admission all day: $1 admission for youth 17 and under; $2 for adults and seniors.
The City pool is named for local surfing legend Frieda Zamba, a four-time world surfing champion from Flagler Beach. Zamba won three straight titles from 1984-1986, then again in 1988, and is regarded by many as the greatest woman surfer of all time.
At the pool, there are four pavilions on the pool deck available for reservation, and the entire facility can be rented for after-hours events.
Daily admission is $4 adults; $3 for seniors (65 and older) and youth (ages 2-17); and free for children under 2. Monthly, seasonal and three-month memberships are available for families, couples and individuals.
