A former World Cup goalie who played professional soccer from 1978 to 2000 for teams including Manchester United, Aberdeen and Arsenal, Leighton will be visiting Palm Coast as a celebrity coach for the Just4Keepers International Goalkeeping Academy at Indian Trails Sports Complex.

To give the public a chance to meet Leighton and get his autograph, the City of Palm Coast, the PDA Florida competitive soccer club (formerly known as FC United), and Just4Keepers are planning three free events:

*         6:45 p.m. Friday, June 14 - Goalkeeper Jim Leighton and Just4Keepers will be welcomed to the City during a short ceremony, followed by a meet-and-greet outside Farley's Irish Pub in European Village, 101 Palm Harbor Pkwy., Palm Coast. The welcome will be followed by a free Friday Night Live Concert featuring "Southbound" from 7-10 p.m., outdoors at European Village.
*         2 p.m. Saturday, June 15 - Meet-and-greet with Jim Leighton at Ralph Carter Park, 1385 Rymfire Drive, Palm Coast. PDA Florida will have a soccer game at 1 p.m., against opponents from the west coast of Florida, and the public also is welcome to come out and watch the game, as well.

 *         3 p.m. Saturday, June 15 - Meet-and-greet with Jim Leighton at Houligan's, 50 Plaza Drive, Palm Coast. The FIFA Confederation Cup Match between Brazil and Italy starts at 3 p.m. Fans are invited to wear their favorite jerseys.
Just4Keepers, an international youth soccer program that prepares goalkeepers for college and professional soccer, selected Palm Coast as the home for its new U.S.-based national camp earlier this year. The national camp will be in July, following the regional ID camp in which Leighton is participating, June 17-18.
